Indiana BMV Offices Under Special Thanksgiving Schedule

Default News Image

Indiana drivers and vehicle owners who require services from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles should remember that the holiday season is approaching, which means that BMV centers will operate in accordance with modified schedules.

Shortly after the BMV completed a period of extended hours for the midterm elections, the main Indianapolis office released a news alert about the upcoming Thanksgiving Day and the final days of November 2022. All branches will be closed on Thursday, November 24, and they will remain closed for the rest of the holiday weekend, which will be the first without COVID-19 restrictions since the coronavirus pandemic was declared in 2020.

Please mark your calendars accordingly, and remember that Wednesday the 23rd will be your last chance to find a BMV branch open before the long holiday weekend. No physical branches or satellite offices will be available on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, or Saturday the 26th. All units will resume regular hours of operation on Monday, November 28th.

It should be noted that online services provided at myBMV.com will be available throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend unless there are outages. The BMV has one maintenance downtime planned for its internet platform on November 17. On Thursday preceding Thanksgiving Day, myBMV.com will be offline from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm. This downtime will extend to the BMV kiosks at state government offices across Indiana.

Something else to keep in mind for November is that this is a month when the registrations of vehicle owners whose last names begin with S, T, V, or W expire. Please check your myBMV.com account or paper registration to ascertain if you need to update your records. Most car owners should be able to complete their registration renewal online without visiting a branch.
