Illinois DMV Appointments: How to Schedule, What Else to Know

Illinois DMV Appointments are available online and can be made up to two months in advance. The earliest available appointment is generally two weeks out. You will need to provide your name, address, date of birth, driver's license number, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. You must provide proof of residency in Illinois if you renew your license. You can make an appointment online or by calling the DMV.

You must make an appointment when you need to take a written test. The written test is available at all full-service DMV locations. You give out all your details, and the test is given on a computer and is available in English and Spanish.

When you need to take a road test, you must make an appointment for that as well. The road test is available at all full-service DMV locations. You must provide your required personal information and a vehicle registered and insured in Illinois. The road test includes a pre-trip inspection, a basic skills test, and on-road driving.
