FLINT, Mich. – The Secretary of State office located at 408 S. Saginaw St. in Flint will close permanently at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 5, as it relocates to a new address.

The new office, situated at 310 E. Third St. in Flint, will open at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 15. Less than a mile from the previous location, the new facility offers a more spacious lobby, upgraded counters, public restrooms, new carpeting, and free parking on the street and in an adjacent lot. The office will continue providing a self-service station.

During the weeklong closure, residents can complete their transactions online at Michigan.gov/SOS. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's administration has doubled the number of services available online, enabling most transactions to be conducted via computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

Online services include ordering most license plate types, renewing and printing registrations for vehicles, motorcycles, snowmobiles, or watercraft, ordering duplicate registrations or titles, changing addresses, and registering as organ donor.

Self-service stations for instant registration, driver's licenses and ID renewals, and other transactions are available at the Meijer store at 2474 W. Hill Road in Flint and the Kroger store at 3838 Richfield Road in Flint.

Before the new location opens, residents requiring in-person Secretary of State services may schedule their visit at the nearest office by going to Michigan.gov/SOS or calling 1-888-767-6424. The closest office, at 5512 Fenton Road, is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
