SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today that all of its offices will be closed on Friday, March 31, in observance of Cesar Chavez Day, a state holiday honoring the late civil rights leader and labor organizer's dedication to social justice and Latino American civil liberties.

Cesar Chavez Day, celebrated annually on March 31, pays tribute to the man who significantly impacted America through numerous hunger strikes, boycotts, and advocating for improved working conditions for farmworkers. California first recognized the holiday in 1995, making it the first state to do so. Many schools, government offices, and businesses throughout the state will also be closed to commemorate Chavez's life and achievements.

Despite the closure of physical DMV locations, Californians will still have access to various online services. Vehicle registration, driver's license renewals, and appointment scheduling can be completed through the DMV's website. Additionally, online DMV partners such as AAA will continue to offer their services on this day.

In a statement, the California DMV reminded residents of the importance of utilizing online services during the holiday closure. "While our offices will be closed in observance of Cesar Chavez Day, we encourage Californians to take advantage of the many services available online to avoid potential delays when our offices reopen," said the DMV spokesperson.

The California DMV is expected to resume regular business hours on Monday, April 3. To learn more about available online services or to find a DMV partner location, visit the California DMV website at www.dmv.ca.gov.
