Renew Washington Vehicle Registration
Registration renewal fees are due annually in Washington state. There are a few different ways to renew a vehicle registration. You can renew:
- Online, or
- By mail.
Your license plate tab says the month and year your registration expires. You can also check your License eXpress account to see the exact date of expiration.

Renew WA Registration Renewal Online
To renew your tabs online, first make sure your address the Department of Licensing (DOL) has on file is correct. You can change your address online if necessary.
To renew online:
- Visit the WA DOL online portal.
- Provide your:
- Vehicle identification number (VIN).
- License plate number.
- Contact information.
- Pay with your credit/debit card or banking account information.
New tabs are mailed out within 5 days after the transaction is completed. If it has been 15 days or more, contact your local DOL office.
Renew WA Registration Renewal by Mail
You can also renew your registration by:
- Completing the form you received with your renewal notice.
- Providing payment for your renewal fee.
- Mailing your items to the address provided with your notice.
